Yorkshire ales

It is a really quiet day.  But how nice, I can write about beer.

At the weekend, in the balmy late afternoon, we visited the White Swan, a pub on the village green in Danby Wiske that does very good Yorkshire beer.

I'm not an expert in ale (for that you need the services of the esteemed gentlemen at CAMRA) but a pint on a sunny afternoon in the summer is a wonderful thing, and these are some of my favourites:

Black Sheep Ale, from the fine Black Sheep Brewery, Masham.  Fruity, slightly bittersweet and malty.

The blond cask beer, Golden Sheep (by the said same Black Sheep)

And Thwaites' (actually a Lancashire brewery, but I digress) Wainwright - a light summery blond beer, great for sitting in the sun.
